A native of Inglewood, California, Gabrielle Horton is a producer and writer, whose work explores Black womanhood through culture and care.

Gabrielle is best known as the creator and co-host of NATAL, the award-winning audio documentary about having a baby while Black. Named to Spotify + Indiewire's Best Podcasts of 2020 lists and honored for Best Documentary Podcasts at the 2022 Webbys, NATAL passes the mic to Black families to share their stories of pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care, in their own words. The series is produced in partnership with You Had Me At Black.

Last year, Gabrielle served as Lead Producer + Director for the enhanced audiobook adaptation of Clover Hope’s “The Motherlode: 100+ Women Who Made Hip Hop” (Audible) featuring MC Lyte, Janelle James, Lauren London, Nia Long, and more. For Issa Rae’s audio-first company, she joined the debut season of “The Scottie & Sylvia Show” as Senior Producer. Currently, she serves as Lead Exhibition Copywriter for Destination Crenshaw, a 1.3-mile-long outdoor museum designed to be one of the largest Black public art projects in the U.S.

Gabrielle has developed, produced, and voiced audio projects for the likes of Audible, NPR, KCRW, The Black List, and more. Eager to support the next generation of storytellers, Gabrielle has served as an adjunct instructor at USC Annenberg and the inaugural alumna mentor for Spelman College’s The Blue Record podcast.

In a previous life, Gabrielle worked across the public sector, where she started as a Capitol Hill intern for the late civil rights giant and U.S. Congressman John Lewis (D-GA). She is a sought-after public speaker and has lent her voice to podcasts like Slate’s “Mom and Dad Are Fighting” and Stitcher’s For Colored Nerds, and moderated events such as The Meteor’s 30-year commemoration of Professor Anita Hill’s landmark Supreme Court testimony and more.

Deep at heart, Gabrielle is a soul and R&B lover girl, a forever library kid with a penchant for contemporary art exhibits, food markets, the outdoors, loose leaf tea, and Pilates. The birth + postpartum doula trainee counts Living Single and Love Life (S2) among her favorite television series.

Gabrielle is a graduate of Harvard-Westlake School, Spelman College, and the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan.
